Specify by what the material has to survive.
Composition, corrosion behaviour, strength and standards cross-referenced for every grade we hold — including the limitations, which matter more than the strengths when a specification turns out to be wrong.
Austenitic
09- 304 / 304LPREN 19
The default austenitic stainless. 18% chromium, 8% nickel, no molybdenum.
UNS S30400 / S30403EN 1.4301 / 1.4306 - 316 / 316LPREN 25
304 plus 2–3% molybdenum. The standard answer to chlorides and mild acids.
UNS S31600 / S31603EN 1.4401 / 1.4404 - 317 / 317LPREN 30
Higher molybdenum than 316, at 3–4%. The step up before super-austenitics.
UNS S31700 / S31703EN 1.4445 / 1.4438 - 321 / 321HPREN 19
304 stabilised with titanium. Resists sensitisation in the 425–815 degrees C range.
UNS S32100 / S32109EN 1.4541 / 1.4940 - 347 / 347HPREN 19
Stabilised with niobium rather than titanium. Preferred where weld filler purity matters.
UNS S34700 / S34709EN 1.4550 / 1.4912 - 310 / 310SPREN 25
25% chromium, 20% nickel. A heat-resisting grade, not a corrosion-resisting one.
UNS S31000 / S31008EN 1.4845 - 303PREN 18
304 with sulphur added for machinability. The free-machining austenitic.
UNS S30300EN 1.4305 - 202PREN 17
Chromium-manganese-nickel austenitic grade. A lower-cost alternative to 304 for dry, indoor and decorative use.
UNS S20200EN 1.4373 - 200 SeriesPREN 16
Manganese and nitrogen substitute for nickel. A cost-driven austenitic family.
UNS S20100 / S20200EN 1.4372
Super Austenitic
03- 904LPREN 35
High nickel, high molybdenum, with copper. Built for sulphuric acid service.
UNS N08904EN 1.4539 - 254 SMOPREN 43
6% molybdenum super-austenitic with nitrogen. PREN above 42.
UNS S31254EN 1.4547 - Alloy 20PREN 30
Nickel-iron-chromium with copper and niobium. Developed for sulphuric acid.
UNS N08020EN 2.4660
Nickel Alloy
03- Inconel 600
Nickel-chromium-iron alloy. Resists oxidation and chloride SCC to high temperature.
UNS N06600EN 2.4816 - Hastelloy C22
Nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten. Resists both oxidising and reducing media.
UNS N06022EN 2.4602 - Nickel 200
Commercially pure nickel, minimum 99% Ni. The caustic service standard.
UNS N02200EN 2.4066
