Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel
Duplex grades solve the problem austenitics cannot: high strength and high chloride resistance at the same time. The strength advantage often allows a thinner wall, which recovers much of the cost premium on a large project. The trade is a hard upper temperature limit and welding that has to be procedure-controlled to hold the phase balance.
