What is Hastelloy C22?

C22 is among the most universally corrosion-resistant alloys available. The combination of 22% chromium, 13% molybdenum and 3% tungsten gives it resistance in both oxidising and reducing conditions — unusual, and the reason it is specified where the process chemistry is mixed, upset-prone or not fully characterised. Resistant in both oxidising and reducing environments, Outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice attack and SCC, Resists wet chlorine, hypochlorite and ferric chloride and Welds without post-weld heat treatment. It is non-magnetic, with good weldability and difficult machinability, and is used in continuous service in air up to about 1050 °C.

What is Hastelloy C22 ?

Hastelloy C22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking. It is more versatile compared to other material as it can resist both oxidizing and reducing conditions. The uncommon balance of the elements in this alloy allows for characteristics desirable, since they provide resistance as well to pitting and crevice corrosion than stress-corrosion cracking.
