Outstanding resistance to caustic soda at all concentrations, Resists dry halogens and neutral and alkaline salt solutions, High thermal and electrical conductivity and Excellent low-temperature toughness. It is magnetic, with good weldability and fair machinability, and is used in continuous service in air up to about 315 °C.
Service limited to around 315 degrees C — graphitisation above this, Attacked by oxidising acids and ammonia, Low mechanical strength relative to nickel alloys and Use Nickel 201 instead for sustained service above 315 degrees C. We state these plainly so the grade is chosen for the right service.
