01Welded Pipes in Myanmar

What Myanmar buyers use welded pipes for.

Myanmar's demand comes from construction and building fit-out, food processing, kitchenware and household goods, and offshore oil and gas.

Environment and grade choice

A tropical monsoon climate with a long wet season, flooding in the delta, and salt air along the coast. Humidity is high for most of the year. SS 202 is used for indoor decorative and kitchenware items; 304 and 316 suit wet, outdoor and food-contact work in this climate.

Standards in Myanmar

ASTM, JIS and BS standards are commonly referred to on imported steel, alongside local requirements. Name the standard your order needs. Buyers in the region typically order coils, sheets, welded pipe and tube in 202 and 304, polished or in 2B finish.

02SS 202 welded pipes

Welded Pipes: what to know before you order.

Welded pipe is formed from flat strip, seam-welded and then usually annealed or dressed. It is the economical route for larger diameters and for decorative and structural pipe, and it is the form in which SS 202 is most often bought.

Welded pipe is formed from strip and seam-welded, then solution annealed and pickled. For ambient and moderate-pressure duty — water, structural, food and general process lines — it delivers the same corrosion performance as seamless at materially lower cost, and is available in larger diameters.

Why buyers choose SS 202 here

  • On long runs and large diameters the weight of metal dominates the bill, so the lower price of 202 against 304 is felt most in pipe.
  • The higher annealed yield strength of 202 can allow a lighter wall in some structural designs, which is a design decision to be checked by the engineer, not assumed.
  • Pipe in 202 takes a bright polish, which suits exposed handrail, balustrade and display framing indoors.

Welded Pipes export to Myanmar: questions answered

Can you ship small lots to Myanmar?
Tell us the quantity. We confirm what can be supplied and how it is shipped, and state the Incoterm and Yangon as the named port in the quotation.
Which documents does a Myanmar importer need from us?
We supply a mill test certificate, certificate of origin, invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Your importer or clearing agent confirms anything further that the destination requires.
Is SS 202 pipe suitable for water or chemical service?
202 suits dry, indoor and mildly humid duty. It resists corrosion less well than 304 and 316, so it is not recommended for chloride-bearing water, coastal exposure or chemical process lines. For those, move to 316, duplex or a nickel alloy.
Should I buy welded or seamless 202 pipe?
Welded pipe is the usual choice for decorative and structural use, and is more economical. Seamless pipe has no weld seam and is chosen where a seam is unwanted or the design code asks for it. We list 202 in both; tell us the duty and we will suggest the right one.
How is welded pipes shipped to Myanmar?
By sea from Nhava Sheva (JNPT) or Mumbai to Yangon. The quotation states the Incoterm and the named port, and quotations are typically returned the same working day. Call +91 79779 45282 or use the Request a Quote form.
